United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) General President Mark McManus praised the nomination of Deputy Secretary Julie Su to be the next Secretary of Labor as a strong win for working families across the country:
“Deputy Secretary Su has proven to be a strong ally to working families like those of the United Association. From her time leading the California Department of Labor to her last two years at the U.S. Department of Labor, Deputy Secretary Su has worked tirelessly to forge consensus and to ensure all working families have a fair shot at success,” said Mark McManus, General President of the United Association. “President Biden, Secretary Walsh, Deputy Secretary Su, and the Biden-Harris Administration have proven to be champions of working families everywhere by leveling the playing field and protecting the rights of workers to collectively bargain for better working conditions. We are grateful for Secretary Walsh’s leadership and his commitment to giving all workers a voice.
“The Senate already confirmed Deputy Secretary Su once; I have no doubt they will move swiftly towards confirmation again. The entire United Association looks forward to continuing our important work with Secretary Designate Su.”
