After the Supreme Court ruled today that construction on the PennEast pipeline can proceed with eminent domain powers, United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) General President Mark McManus praised the ruling as a win not only for the workers building the pipeline, but for the consumers who will benefit from the reliable and affordable energy it provides:
“Today’s majority opinion from justices appointed by both Democrats and Republicans is a strong win for workers everywhere, but especially for the best-trained and highly-skilled members of the United Association. After a thorough review process, the PennEast pipeline has cleared yet another hurdle in its path – and we stand ready to build,” said Mark McManus, General President of the United Association. “After President Biden and his administration weighed in with support for the project and its eminent domain powers, the Supreme Court also sided with workers and American families with today’s ruling. The United Association will continue to support candidates from both parties, because we know infrastructure and the ability to work for fair wages and benefits are not partisan issues. We applaud today’s ruling and look forward to continuing our work delivering reliable, affordable, and efficient energy to American families and consumers.”
