The United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) Vote! PAC is up on the airwaves beginning today in the Virginia 7th Congressional District election with a broadcast and cable ad buy that defines Nick Freitas as too extreme for Virginians. The ad highlights Freitas’ vote to let businesses discriminate and fire expecting mothers for no other reason than their pregnancy. The spot will run from September 15 until September 28 on broadcast and cable television as well as online on multiple digital platforms.
“Politician Nick Freitas is simply too extreme for working families in Virginia,” said Mark McManus, General President of the United Association. “The working men and women of this country turn to unions like the UA for many critical protections, including paid sick and family leave, but Nick Freitas has shown time and again that he’ll vote to undermine those protections. Unfortunately, there are already too many anti-worker politicians in Washington. We just can’t risk sending extreme politician Nick Freitas to Congress, too.”
“This television ad and accompanying digital campaign send a strong message to working families in Virginia about what kind of leaders we need in Washington,” said Calla Brown, Political Advisor for the United Association. “Politician Nick Freitas just doesn’t seem to understand why it’s so important we protect workers and guarantee paid family leave. If he could vote to leave expecting mothers out in the cold, just imagine what else Nick Freitas would do to those who need protection the most.”
