GP McManus Statement on Sec. Scalia Last-Minute Wage Regulations

Wednesday, December 30, 2020

In response to Labor Secretary Eugene Scalia's recent 11th-hour directive to remove Davis-Bacon wage protections and reduce worker wages in the construction industry, UA General President Mark McManus issued the following statement:

“Eugene Scalia has been a disgrace since his first day at the Department of Labor. Now he wants to give one last punch to the gut of working men and women on his way out the door. This cowardly last-minute regulation – coming with no public announcement and at the 11th hour – slashes hard-earned wage protections that have been in place for generations. Thankfully, we are days away from having a new Secretary of Labor who will put workers first and ensure Davis-Bacon is the law of the land. We just have two words left for Secretary Scalia: Good riddance.”
