Mid-Atlantic Pipe Trades Association: “Abigail Has a Proven Record of Delivering Results for Virginia’s Working Families”
RICHMOND, Va. — The Mid-Atlantic Pipe Trades Association — representing six locals of the United Association of Plumbers and Steamfitters across Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia — today endorsed Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger to serve as the next Governor of Virginia.
In its endorsement of Spanberger, the Mid-Atlantic Pipe Trades Association recognized Spanberger’s work to make the Commonwealth more affordable for working families and create new opportunities for Virginia’s workers.
“The Mid-Atlantic Pipe Trades Association is excited to endorse Abigail Spanberger to serve as the next Governor of Virginia. Abigail has a proven record of delivering results for Virginia’s working families. Virginians deserve a Governor who will put Virginia’s workers and economy first — not dismiss their concerns and downplay the economic challenges many Virginians currently face,” said Jason Ascher, Political Director of the Mid-Atlantic Pipe Trades Association. “Our Local unions look forward to working with Abigail to expand the use of our registered apprenticeships, ensuring that Virginia has the best-trained workforce, fighting the plague of wage theft, and protecting good union construction jobs. All of this while promoting better working conditions and safer job sites for all workers in the Commonwealth.”
“I’m grateful to earn the Mid-Atlantic Pipe Trades Association’s endorsement to serve as Virginia’s next Governor,” said Spanberger. “Everywhere I travel across the Commonwealth, I hear from Virginians who work hard, play by the rules, and want security and prosperity for their families. But at this moment, so many Virginians are putting in longer hours, yet finding it even harder to make ends meet.”
Spanberger continued, “That’s why I announced my Affordable Virginia Plan and Growing Virginia Plan — because as the next Governor of Virginia, I will work to deliver better wages, strong investments in training and registered apprenticeship programs, fair treatment in the workplace, and a more affordable Virginia for working families. Together, we will put Virginia’s workers and economy first.”
BACKGROUND
This week, Spanberger announced her “Growing Virginia Plan,” which will grow Virginia’s economy and create job opportunities for Virginians across every corner of the Commonwealth.
In Congress, Spanberger built a reputation for focusing on the issues that matter most to working families — creating good-paying jobs, strengthening our public schools, and increasing opportunity for every Virginian. She defended the pensions of retired workers in Virginia and across the country — and has been a champion of policies that have created more jobs for Virginians, including the bipartisan infrastructure law.
As Virginia’s next Governor, Abigail will always support working Virginians — and she has made clear her commitment to investing in job training, lowering costs for working families, and pushing back against threats to Virginians’ livelihoods.
