After the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) announced the first recipients of its $200 million infrastructure grant funding, as appropriated in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) General President Mark McManus praised the funding as a critical investment in the future of affordable, reliable, and safe American energy infrastructure:
“Thanks to President Biden’s historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, United Association members are already hard at work modernizing our nation’s infrastructure. This funding means that our work delivering affordable, reliable, and safe energy to American consumers continues – all while ensuring underserved and at-risk communities will be protected from the risks associated with aging distribution networks,” said Mark McManus, General President of the United Association. “Updates to our energy infrastructure require the highest safety and quality standards. Simply put, the health and safety of our communities depends on it. As such, the men and women of the United Association are the best trained and most highly skilled craftspeople in the industry, and we are ready to continue our critical work protecting the communities in which we live and work.”
