Southwest Pipe Trades Association Endorses Rep. Henry Cuellar for Reelection

Affiliate of the United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipe Fitters cites Cuellar’s continued support of the Pipe Trades and strong labor protections in their endorsement.

SAN ANTONIO, Tx. – The Southwest Pipe Trades Association (SWPTA), representing thirteen local unions in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, announced their endorsement today of Representative Henry Cuellar to continue serving the people of Texas’ 28th Congressional District in Congress. The SWPTA is committed to protecting good jobs for its members with strong wage protections and safe working conditions.

“Rep. Cuellar has been a great friend of the Southwest Pipe Trades during his service in Congress, and he knows the challenges our members face from outside special interest groups” said Mark Potter, Business Manager for UA Local 142 in San Antonio. “We are proud to endorse Rep. Cuellar for another term in Congress. Rep. Cuellar is a strong ally of our members working in the natural gas industry in south Texas, and he’ll continue to protect the good union jobs for our members working on pipelines and in refineries.”

“Now more than ever we need strong allies in Congress to protect our pipe trade jobs and our union healthcare, and Rep. Cuellar is the man to do just that,” said Wayne Lord, Business Manager for UA Local 68 in Houston. “Our members work hard day in and day out to put food on the table. They need a fighter in Congress who always has their back. That fighter is Rep. Cuellar.”

“I’m proud to stand with my brothers and sisters across Texas to endorse Rep. Cuellar for reelection, a strong advocate for good union jobs and wages in Congress,” said Bryan Edwards, Business Manager for UA Local 211 in Houston. “He has our back in Washington, and now it’s our turn to have his back in his reelection."
