United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) General President Mark McManus issued the following statement after President Trump signed an executive order last night ending collective bargaining for some federal workers:
“The men and women of the United Association are on the front lines protecting our national security by building, maintaining, and modernizing our warships and submarines. With thousands of our members – many of them veterans themselves, working on the very ships they served on – at federal shipyards nationwide, we are proud to play an essential role preparing the world’s finest fighting force. This executive action not only breaks an agreement while it is still in effect, but it will directly impact our national security and undermine the fair wages and benefits these patriotic welders, pipefitters, and mechanics have earned.
“We will continue to stand up for our workers, and we will continue to do our part for our national security and for the brave men and women of our armed forces. We will not be deterred by this blatant anti-worker action. We will continue to do our jobs.”
