United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) General President Mark McManus hailed the announcement yesterday from the U.S. Department of Energy Loan Programs Office of a $2 billion loan commitment to Redwood Materials as a critical investment in the future of American manufacturing:
“United Association Local 350 members are already hard at work constructing the Redwood Materials battery plant in Nevada. Yesterday’s announcement is further proof of the Biden Administration’s commitment to jumpstarting the future of American manufacturing with the working families who built this nation: union members like us,” said Mark McManus, General President of the United Association. “The future of electric vehicles relies on cutting edge battery manufacturing technology and facilities – and those facilities require highly skilled workers. Thanks to our gold standard registered apprenticeships and training programs, United Association members continue to play an essential role constructing and maintaining the facilities that power our future for generations to come.”
