U.S. Department of Energy Loan Commitment for Construction and Expansion of Redwood Materials Nevada Plant Will Create Good-Paying Union Jobs

United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) General President Mark McManus hailed the announcement yesterday from the U.S. Department of Energy Loan Programs Office of a $2 billion loan commitment to Redwood Materials as a critical investment in the future of American manufacturing:

“United Association Local 350 members are already hard at work constructing the Redwood Materials battery plant in Nevada. Yesterday’s announcement is further proof of the Biden Administration’s commitment to jumpstarting the future of American manufacturing with the working families who built this nation: union members like us,” said Mark McManus, General President of the United Association. “The future of electric vehicles relies on cutting edge battery manufacturing technology and facilities – and those facilities require highly skilled workers.
